Brand SERP

A brand SERP is the search results page someone gets when they search for your brand name.

A brand SERP is the search results page people see when they type your brand's name into a search engine. SERP stands for search engine results page. It usually includes your website, your social profiles, review sites, news and, on Google, often a knowledge panel and an AI Overview.

It's one of the clearest signs of how well search engines understand you. And because AI platforms read many of the same sources, it's a good first look at what they're likely to say about you too.

What to look for

Search your own name, signed out, and read the page as a stranger would:

  • Is your own website first?
  • Is there a knowledge panel, and are its facts right?
  • Which review sites, directories and articles show up, and what do they say?
  • Does anything belong to a different business with your name?
  • If there's an AI Overview, does it describe you correctly?

For example, a search for Kestrel Roasters shows its website first, then a two-year-old review complaining about slow delivery, then a directory listing with an old address. An AI platform asked about Kestrel will likely read those same pages, so the slow-delivery story and the old address can end up in its answers.

How to improve it

You can shape a lot of what's on the page. Keep your own site's title and description clear. Keep your profiles on the main directories and review sites current. Ask for corrections on pages that are wrong. Give the search engine a clear entity to recognize, with consistent details and structured data on your site.

We don't track search results pages. We do ask your prompts on Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode every day, so branded prompts like your brand's name with "reviews" or "prices" show you what Google's AI says when people search for you. See How we count.
