Generative AI performance report

The Generative AI performance report in Google Search Console shows how often links to your site were shown in AI Overviews and AI Mode.

The Generative AI performance report is a report in Google Search Console that shows how often links to your site appeared in Google's AI features, AI Overviews and AI Mode. Google's help page says it had reached all websites as of August 31, 2026.

It's the first number from Google itself about your presence in its AI answers. It's also narrower than people tend to hope, so it's worth knowing what it shows and what it leaves out.

What it shows

The report counts impressions: how many times a link to your site was shown to someone in AI Overviews or AI Mode. You can break that down by page, country, date and device.

It doesn't break the two features apart, so AI Overviews and AI Mode come as one number. Experiments in Search Labs aren't included. And the help page describes impressions only, so you can't see from the report how many people clicked.

An example

For example, say Fernhill Coffee's report shows 12,000 impressions last month, mostly on its brewing guides. That tells Fernhill those guides were linked in AI answers often. It doesn't say which questions they were linked for, which brands the answers recommended, or whether the answer said anything good about Fernhill.

How to use it

Use it to see which of your pages Google's AI features link to, and whether that's growing. Then pair it with something that shows the answers themselves, and with your analytics for what people did next.

In AnswerOrbit, you can connect Search Console in Settings, but Google doesn't share its AI report with other tools yet. For AI Overviews and AI Mode, we read the answers ourselves: which brands they named and which pages they used. How we count has the details.
