Broad objection

A broad objection is a reason against your brand that AI answers give across many different questions, topics and platforms.

A broad objection is a reason the AI platforms give against choosing you that comes up in lots of different answers. It appears whether people ask about price, quality, delivery or which brand to pick. A narrow objection only comes up for a few particular questions.

Telling the two apart tells you how big the fix needs to be. A narrow objection can often be fixed with one page. A broad one usually means the same complaint is written in many places, or that it's true.

Broad or narrow?

For each objection, look at how many different prompts, topics and platforms bring it up.

For example, Fernhill Coffee finds two objections in its answers. "Only delivers within London" comes up across subscriptions, gifts, office coffee and price questions, on four platforms. That's broad. "No decaf in the subscription" only comes up when people ask about decaf. That's narrow.

The narrow one might need a decaf page that's easy to find. The broad one needs Fernhill to track down every directory, review and article that still says London only, and get them corrected.

Is it true?

Before you fix anything, ask whether the objection is fair. If it's true, it's product feedback, and no amount of content will make it go away for long. If it's untrue, it's a content and press problem, and the pages behind it are where to start.

Watch which way it's going

An objection that's spreading to more answers each week needs attention now. One that's been steady for months can be handled as part of your regular work.
