Citation pages

Citation pages are the individual web pages AI answers cite, each with its own address, counted page by page.

Citation pages are the single web pages that AI answers link to, each counted on its own. Where citation domains tell you which websites matter, citation pages tell you exactly which articles, listings and product pages the platforms use.

This is the level where you can act: ask the writer of one article to include you, or update one page of your own.

What to look for

For each page, check how often answers use it and what kind of page it is. Some kinds come up again and again in AI answers:

  • List articles, like "the best coffee subscriptions in the UK"
  • Comparisons between two or three brands
  • Directory and marketplace profiles
  • Reviews of a single product
  • Forum threads where people ask for recommendations

Then open the pages that matter most and read them. Are you on the list? Is what they say about you right?

An example

Harrow & Pine looks at the pages cited for its prompts about oak dining tables. One list article from a home magazine is used in more answers than anything else, and it names four competitors and not Harrow & Pine. A forum thread comes second, and it mentions Harrow & Pine with an old price.

Two clear jobs come out of that. Pitch the magazine for the next update of its list. Reply in the forum thread with the current price.

In AnswerOrbit

The Pages tab in Sources lists every page the answers used, with how many answers used it, how many times it was linked, and its type, like a list article, a comparison or a directory profile. Click the star next to a page to follow it in the Watched tab.
