Tag

A tag is a label you add to prompts to group them across topics, like "price" or "comparison," so you can filter your numbers by it.

A tag is a label you put on prompts to group them in a way topics don't. A topic says what a prompt is about. A tag says something else about it: that it's about price, that it compares two brands, that it names your brand, or that it's aimed at one market.

A prompt sits in one topic but can have as many tags as you like.

Why use tags

Topics answer "how are we doing on office coffee?" Tags answer questions that cut across topics, like "how are we doing on every question about price?"

For example, a roaster with topics for subscriptions, gifts and offices might tag every price question "price." Filtering by that tag shows its visibility on price questions across all three topics at once. If it's named in 40% of answers overall but only 10% of price answers, it knows the platforms don't see it as good value.

Tags are also the tidy way to keep certain prompts out of your main numbers. Tag your branded prompts "branded" and filter them out, and your visibility shows only the questions where the platform had a real choice.

Keep the set small

A few tags you use consistently beat dozens you use once. If every prompt has its own tag, filtering by tag tells you nothing. A handful of groups, like intent, price and comparison, is usually enough.

Add tags when you add prompts, or select prompts on the Prompts tab in Topics and assign them. On the Tags tab you can group your tags and give them colours. Then filter by tag on the Overview and on the Prompts tab. See Topics and prompts.
