Top citation domains
Top citation domains are the websites AI answers cite most for your prompts, ranked, so you can see which few sites shape your answers.
Top citation domains are the websites that AI answers cite most often for your questions, in a ranked list. Where citation domains covers every site the answers used, the top of the list is the short version: the handful of sites that shape most of what the platforms say about your category.
It's usually the first list to look at when you're deciding where your PR and partnership work should go.
How to read the top of the list
Start with the first ten or twenty rows and sort them into three piles: your own site, your competitors' sites, and everyone else. The third pile is where the work is.
Then look at how concentrated it is. In some categories, a few sites turn up in most answers. In others, the citations are spread thin across many. A concentrated list gives you a short, clear target. A spread-out one means you need to be in lots of places.
An example
For example, Harrow & Pine looks at the top domains for its prompts about dining tables. The first five are a home magazine, a big retailer, a review site, a forum and a competitor's website. Harrow & Pine sells through the retailer, and it's on the review site. The magazine and the forum have never mentioned it.
That's a two-item to-do list: pitch the magazine, and take part in the forum.
Check it platform by platform
The list can look different on each platform. One may lean on review sites, another on forums or the big encyclopaedias. If you're doing well on one platform and badly on another, compare their top domains.
In AnswerOrbit
The Domains tab in Sources lists every website the answers used, with how many answers used it and how many times it was linked, so the busiest sites come to the top. The Platforms tab shows which sources each platform prefers. Click the star next to a domain to follow it in Watched.
