Visibility score
A visibility score sums up how often AI answers name your brand across the prompts you track.
A visibility score is a single number that tells you how often AI platforms name your brand when people ask the questions you care about. It's usually the first number an AI search tool shows you, because it answers the simplest question: are we showing up at all?
How tools work it out
The name is the same across tools, but the maths isn't. Some tools give you a score out of 100 that blends several signals, such as how often you're named, how high up and how prominently. Others report a plain percentage: the share of answers that name you.
So before you compare a visibility score from two tools, check what each one counts. A 40 in one tool and 40% in another can mean very different things.
How we count it
In AnswerOrbit the number is simply called Visibility. It's the share of answers that name you, out of every answer we collected for your prompts in the last seven days. Answers that don't name any brand still count in the total, because a customer who asked and heard no brand didn't hear yours either.
For example, if 49 of your 140 answers this week name you, your visibility is 35%. If 20 of those 140 answers name no brand at all, they still stay in the 140.
We keep it as a plain share so you can always check it. Click the number and you'll see the 49 answers behind it. What the numbers mean has the full definition, and How we count explains how we collect the answers.
Reading it well
A visibility score on its own hides where you're strong and where you're missing. Look at it by topic and by platform too. You might be named in most answers about price and almost none about delivery, or often on Perplexity and rarely on ChatGPT.
Read it next to position as well. Being named often but always last is a different problem from being named rarely but always first.
