Strength
In AI search, a strength is a quality AI answers already tie to your brand, accurately and in your favour, like fresh beans or fast delivery.
A strength is something the AI platforms already say about you that's both true and good for you. "Fernhill roasts to order." "Kestrel's customer service is quick to reply." When the platforms get this right, it's the part of your reputation you build on.
Strengths are easy to overlook, because nothing needs fixing. But they're why you're named for the questions you win, and they can fade if the pages behind them go stale.
How to find yours
A strength has two sides. The answers that describe you bring the quality up often. And when people ask about that quality directly, you're among the first brands named.
For example, say 60% of the answers describing Kestrel Roasters mention freshness, and Kestrel comes second among the brands named when people ask for the freshest coffee. That's a strength. Kestrel is also tied to fast delivery in 40% of answers, but comes seventh when people ask who delivers fastest. That one isn't a strength yet.
Building on a strength
- Keep the pages that back it up current, on your site and elsewhere
- Track prompts that turn on it, so you notice if you slip
- Use it in your press and outreach, since it's the story the platforms already believe
Watch it over time. A strength can weaken if a competitor starts to own the same quality, or if the reviews and articles behind it get old.
In AnswerOrbit
The Qualities tab in Perception shows, for each quality, your Association (how often the answers describing you bring it up) and your Standing (your rank among the brands named for it). Above the table you'll see your quality with the most association and your best standing. Standing over time shows whether you're holding on to it.
