Watchlist
A watchlist is a set of websites or pages you pick to follow in an AI visibility tool, to see how often AI answers use them over time.
A watchlist is a set of websites or pages you choose to follow over time, to see how often AI answers use them. Instead of reading the whole list of sources each week, you pick the ones you care about and keep an eye on those.
It's useful because the sources that matter to you aren't always the ones at the top. A partner's blog, a trade magazine you've just been featured in, or a review site you're working on might be small, and you still want to know whether the platforms start using it.
What to put on it
- Sites you're trying to get onto, so you can see whether they matter for your questions
- Pages you've just been mentioned on, to see whether the answers pick them up
- Your own key pages, like your pricing or delivery page
- Competitors' pages that keep turning up in answers
An example
For example, Fernhill Coffee gets a mention in a food magazine's roundup of coffee gifts in November. It adds the article to its watchlist, along with the magazine's whole site. Over the next three weeks, the roundup goes from no answers to 12 answers a week on Fernhill's gift prompts, and Fernhill's visibility on that topic rises with it.
Without a watchlist, Fernhill might never have connected the two.
Following a group as one
Sometimes you want to follow a type of source together, like every review site in your industry, or every page in a partner's guides section. Grouping them gives you one line to watch instead of twenty.
In AnswerOrbit
We call it Watched. In Sources, click the star next to any domain or page, and you'll find it in the Watched tab. To follow several as one, click Groups, then New group, and add the domains or pages. Tick Include the pages under it to take in a whole section of a site.
